David Carey Foster: Co-Writer
Since venturing out from New Mexico as a young man, David has performed in dozens of theaters from coast to coast. Recently though, he seems to have found a niche portraying iconic figures in history. Last summer, he appeared in Orson’s Shadow, at Artists Repertory Theatre in Portland, playing a befuddled Sir Laurence Olivier who’s trying to come to terms with modern theatre sensibilities. The summer prior, he portrayed Vincent van Gogh, franticly nearing his last days in Inventing Van Gogh, at PCPA Theaterfest in California.
He was also in the world premiere musical production of Zhivago, at the La Jolla Playhouse, directed by 2-time Tony winner, Des McAnuff; which also included subsequent re-worked presentations in New York and London. David is a long-time member of one of the rising theatrical stars of the Los Angeles and regional theatre scenes, The Colony Theatre Company, where he has performed in productions of Dandelion Wine, The Living, Morning Star, David’s Mother, The Odd Couple (female version), Incident at Vichy, Modigliani, and The Cocktail Hour. Other favorite regional theatre endeavors as an actor have been in Orphans, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Little Foxes, Pippin, Lone Star, Hamlet , and The1940’s Radio Hour.
Recent television stints include Numbe3rs , 7th Heaven, Oliver Beene, The Agency, a recurring role on the Ben Affleck and Matt Damon-created series Push, Nevada, and an episode of The District, where he spent all night on a set working with film legend Ernest Borgnine.
As a producer, David has worked for the Central Coast Repertory Theatre on productions of My Children - My Africa, Stiegletz Loves O'Keefe, Voices of America and A Night at the Tony’s. At the Colony Theatre, he also sat on the other side of the table to produce Einstein & the Polar Bear, and The Cocktail Hour.
Mr. Foster is currently at work on a number of projects, that include recording an album with his vocal trio, Pepper Street; and a stage adaptation of Judith Guest’s seminal work, “Ordinary People”.
